Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions organisers ask most — pricing, group sizes, ferry times, visas, meals, weather and payment — so you can plan your Batam trip with total confidence.
Choosing Batam for Your Team
Why should we choose Batam for our team building trip?
Because your team gets a proper overseas break without losing half the trip to travel. Batam is around an hour by ferry from Singapore, and its resorts, activity venues, restaurants and meeting spaces are close enough to combine in one practical itinerary. It works just as well for a one-day reset as it does for a 2D1N or longer retreat.
Batam or Bintan — which is better for our group?
Choose Batam if you want more activity choices, easier city access and good value for a larger group or a team with mixed interests. Bintan is a better fit when the brief is mainly resort time, beach and a slower pace. We arrange corporate trips to both, so message us with your priorities and we’ll give you an honest recommendation.
Batam or Johor Bahru (JB) for a company trip — which is better?
Both are great — it depends on your purpose. Batam is our pick for activity-led team building: a one-hour ferry (no causeway traffic) and venues close enough for one seamless itinerary. JB suits teams wanting a land crossing, theme parks, golf or shopping. We also arrange retreats to JB, so if you need further consultation, message us and we’ll pick the best one for you.
When is the best time of year for team building in Batam?
Batam works year-round. The weather stays warm, and during the wetter months we can build indoor alternatives into the program rather than leaving your day to chance. Singapore school holidays and the year-end period fill up first, so it is worth confirming earlier if your dates fall within those busier weeks.
Is Batam safe for corporate groups?
Yes. We’ve been arranging Batam group trips since 2015 and partnered with a few hotels/accomodations and private group transfers, with the appropriate equipment and safety briefings for each activity. Our Batam team is also on the ground to coordinate the programme. Preparing an internal risk assessment? Ask us for the relevant activity and venue details.
Is Batam suitable for a mixed-age or multinational group?
Yes, Batam suits mixed-age, mixed-fitness and multinational groups. Activities range from low-impact telematch and batik workshops to high-energy paintball and go-kart, and we arrange halal, vegetarian and other dietary needs in advance so everyone can take part comfortably.
Group Sizes & Trip Formats
What group sizes can you accommodate?
We usually arrange trips for groups of 20 pax and up, and we’ve run events for as many as 500. Have a smaller team? Message us and we can see whether a customized arrangement will work for your dates and budget.
How long is a typical team building trip?
Most teams choose a day trip, 2D1N or 3D2N programme. A day trip works well for focused bonding; 2D1N gives you room for activities and a relaxed dinner; 3D2N is useful when you also want meetings, free time or a gala night. Browse our popular packages or tell us what needs to fit into the trip and we’ll recommend the right length.
How many activities can we fit into one day?
Two well-paced activities plus a proper lunch is usually the sweet spot for a day trip. We can squeeze in more, but racing from venue to venue tends to take the fun out of it. With an overnight stay, three or more activities can be spread across two days without making the programme feel rushed.
What’s Included — Our End-to-End Service
What does an “end-to-end” team-building service actually include?
It means one brief, one quotation and one team responsible for bringing the trip together. Depending on your package, we arrange the return ferry tickets, group check-in, private transfers, hotel, meals, facilitated activities and on-ground coordination. Your HR or admin team does not have to manage a separate vendor for every part of the programme. Send us your details and we’ll map it out for you.
What types of accommodation do you offer for Batam team building?
We offer accommodation for every kind of Batam team building trip, from 4-star city hotels to beachfront resorts and all-villa retreats. We work with 15+ partner hotels and match your group to the right style based on your size, budget, programme and whether you want a city or resort setting.
Do you provide a dedicated coordinator and on-ground staff?
Yes. You’ll have a coordinator to develop the itinerary, answer questions before departure and stay reachable during the trip. In Batam, our facilitators and game masters handle the briefings, activities, scoring, prizes and on-the-day coordination. That means your organiser can join the experience instead of spending the whole day managing it.
Do you provide the equipment and facilitators?
Yes. The facilitators, activity equipment and required safety gear are included in the package. We handle the briefings, games, scoring, prizes and safety support; your team just needs to arrive ready to take part. For activities such as paintball or ATV, we’ll remind everyone to bring a change of clothes.
Do you handle the ferry booking and group check-in?
Yes. We recommend the ferry route and terminal that make the most sense for your hotel and itinerary, book the group tickets and coordinate group check-in. Seating remains subject to the ferry operator’s availability, but your team will not have to arrange separate tickets. You can view the latest timings on Batam Ferry Tickets.
Do you provide photos and videos, and when do we get them?
Tours that include team building come with a free videographer, and we also capture group moments during the programme. We share the edited highlights after the trip, with the expected delivery timing stated in your proposal. Want to see what you’ll be getting? Browse our gallery.
Activities & Customization
What team building activities are available in Batam?
Batam offers a wide range of team building activities: telematch, paintball, go-kart, ATV, laser quest, batik workshops, amazing race and gala dinners. All are facilitated by our own team, and you can pick one or rotate several across your itinerary. Explore the activities we offer here.
Can we customize the activities, hotel and dinner?
Yes — there is no fixed combination you have to accept. Choose a hotel, mix activities that suit your team, then finish with anything from a beachside BBQ to a beach-club evening or gala dinner. We also cater to dietary preference when you share the the breakdown in advance.
Can you design the program around a specific goal?
Yes. A new-hire team does not need the same program as a leadership offsite or sales kick-off. Tell us whether the goal is better communication, stronger collaboration, celebrating a milestone or simply helping a hybrid team reconnect. We’ll recommend the activities, pace and facilitation style around that outcome. Need inspiration first? Explore our Batam team-building ideas.
Can you arrange a gala dinner, awards night or company D&D?
Yes. We can arrange anything from a relaxed beachside BBQ to a gala dinner, awards night or full company D&D. Venue, catering, sound, entertainment and hosting can be added according to the brief. Tell us your guest count and the kind of evening you have in mind, and we’ll recommend a suitable setup.
Can you accommodate mixed fitness levels or accessibility needs?
Yes, as long as we know what your group needs before confirmation. We can recommend lower-impact or seated formats, balance energetic challenges with gentler activities and check whether the proposed venues are suitable. Share any mobility, medical or accessibility requirements early so we can plan an inclusive programme rather than make last-minute assumptions.
Are meals and dietary requirements handled at the hotel?
Yes, meals and dietary requirements are arranged at your hotel and restaurants in advance, including halal, vegetarian and no-pork-no-lard options. Share your group’s dietary breakdown when you book and we’ll confirm everything before your trip, so no one is left without a suitable meal.
Can you brand the event with our company logo?
Yes. Depending on the event format and budget, we can add your logo and colours to banners, backdrops, team T-shirts, welcome signage or completion certificates. Send the final artwork once the branding items are confirmed, and we’ll coordinate the production details with you.
What's there to do in Batam beyond team building?
Batam offers plenty beyond team building — spas and massages, seafood dining, beach clubs, golf, shopping malls and resort pools, all within easy reach. That’s why it works so well for a mixed itinerary blending activities, downtime and a group celebration.
What happens if it rains?
Where the program needs one, we plan suitable indoor alternatives in advance and adjust the timing based on conditions and venue availability. That could mean moving to a problem-solving challenge, cooking session, batik workshop or another sheltered format. See our indoor and outdoor options.
Pricing, Payment & Invoicing
How much does a Batam team building trip cost per person?
Our packages start at S$179 per person, depending on the hotel, group size, activities and travel dates. Send us your details and we’ll reply within one working day; straightforward trips will usually receive an exact quotation then.
What are your payment terms and methods?
Most groups confirm with a deposit and settle the remaining balance before travel. We accept PayNow and bank transfer, with card payment available on request. The exact amount and deadlines will be shown on your quotation and invoice. If your company has a longer procurement cycle or a specific payment process, tell us early so we can check it before confirmation.
Do you provide an official invoice and receipt for company claims?
Yes. We issue a company invoice and receipt under VTL Travel Pte Ltd, a Singapore Tourism Board–licensed travel agent under Licence TA03084. If your procurement team needs supplier-onboarding documents or a particular invoice format, share the requirements early and we’ll confirm what can be provided.
Booking & Quotations
How do I book a Batam team building trip?
Start with four details: your preferred dates, estimated group size, day trip or overnight stay, and what you want the team to achieve. Submit them through our quotation form or contact page, and we’ll reply within one working day with the best next step.
How soon can I get a quotation?
For a straightforward trip, we’ll usually send the first itinerary and quotation within one working day after receiving the key details. A complex event with several venues, custom branding or a gala programme may need a little longer. If that happens, we’ll tell you when to expect it rather than leave you waiting for an update.
Can you send a proposal or itinerary we can share for internal approval?
Yes. We’ll prepare a proposal with the program, day-by-day timings, package inclusions and a clear price, ready for you to forward to management or finance. If your decision-makers request changes, send us their feedback and we’ll update the proposal before you confirm.
How far in advance should we book?
For groups of 30–100 pax, 6–8 weeks ahead is a comfortable lead time. Allow around three months for groups above 100 pax or trips during Singapore school holidays and the year-end period. A batik workshop for 30 pax or more needs at least one month’s notice. Tight on dates? Message us and we’ll check what is still workable.
What’s your cancellation, rescheduling and refund policy?
The exact terms depend on the ferry, hotel and activities booked, as well as how close the change is to your travel date. Your quotation and the official terms and conditions will show the applicable payment, amendment, cancellation and refund terms before you pay the deposit. If plans change, contact us as early as possible — earlier notice normally gives us more options to help.
Travel, Visas & Logistics
How long is the ferry, and which terminal do we use?
The crossing normally takes around 50 minutes to one hour. The best terminal depends on your hotel, ferry timing and availability, so we recommend the route that keeps the land transfer practical. We then book the group tickets and coordinate check-in. See the current options on Batam Ferry Tickets.
How close are the hotels to the ferry terminal?
Our Batam hotels are close to the ferry terminals, with transfer times matched to where you stay — Grand Mercure is about 5 minutes from Batam Centre, HARRIS around 5 minutes from Waterfront City, and Montigo near Nongsapura. We book the ferry that lands your group closest to your hotel.
Do we need a visa, and what documents are required?
Visa requirements depend on each participant’s passport, so don’t assume one answer covers the whole group. Check every nationality on Indonesia’s official e-Visa website before ticketing. Travellers should generally have at least six months’ passport validity from the date of arrival in Indonesia and keep their return or onward-travel details available. Because entry rules can change, check again shortly before departure.
What should participants bring?
Comfortable clothes and covered shoes are a good starting point. Add swimwear for water activities and a change of clothes for paintball or ATV. Sunscreen, a cap and a reusable water bottle are useful for outdoor sessions too. We’ll send a short packing note with the final itinerary, tailored to the activities your team has chosen.
Can colleagues flying in from other countries join the group?
Yes. Colleagues can join via Singapore or travel directly to Batam. Share their flight or ferry details early, and we’ll plan where they should meet the main group and what transfers are needed. The goal is to bring everyone into the same itinerary without making the organiser coordinate each arrival alone.
Are participants insured during activities?
Activity venues provide the required equipment, safety briefings and operating procedures, but that is not the same as personal travel insurance. Your quotation will state whether any insurance is included; unless it is listed, arrange suitable cover for each participant. We recommend travel insurance for the trip and can share activity details if your company needs them for an internal risk assessment.
